The 4th harmonic repeats from tone 56, G of the top octave. The 5th harmonic repeats from tone 52, D of the top octave. The 7th harmonic repeats from tone 49, the lower C of the top octave. The 8th harmonic is repeated from tone 44, G in the fourth octave. Note that the 6th and 8th harmonics actually repeat some tones twice.
The XH Elegante needs no introduction as the king of pop organs. With drawbars, rhythms, accompaniments, disk drive and that Hammond feel and sound, it’s the home organ .
It’s got pretty much the same make up, and a similar sound for sure. It has two sets of keyboards, each with about three and a half octaves worth of keys. It has a full set of draw bars, in pretty much the same fashion as most of the classic Hammond organs. It is a fully polyphony keyboard, and also has a foot pedals and a volume pedal. It doesn’t really have any setting controls out of the ordinary that I can think of if you were to compare it to a Hammond C3 or B3.
If you don’t know much about organs, there’s definitely a bit of a learning curve here. Having said this, accessing the basic features of the organ should be easy enough for all users. I don’t know anything about the manual for the M3. I’ve used it for recording with a Leslie speaker cabinet, and the end result is definitely something special.
I don’t think that too many users will be able to tell the difference between the M3 and other Hammond organs, as it’s very similar to the B3 as far as I can tell. I used a set of Gefell M to record the Leslie, which picked up all the details very well. The M3 is definitely the real deal when it comes to organs While I’ve never had the chance to have the M3 and a B3 side by side, I’m fairly confident that most people wouldn’t be able to tell much of a difference.
Don’t be fooled with the fact that this isn’t a B3, the Hammond M3 is a top notch organ.

We’ve personally examined many counterfeit B3’s lately with customers finding out after the fact that they purchased a counterfeit B3 while being told it was a genuine B3 and paying Genuine B3 prices. As Members of the Better Business Bureau we cannot condone this. If you have fallen victim to the purchase of an undisclosed counterfeit B3, contact the state Attorney General office in the state the dealer is doing business in.
If in doubt, send us email and photos of the inside and outside of the cabinetry and we will help you determine this. Some counterfeits are better than others, but we know what to look for. Getting your money back from slysters that do this is nearly impossible. It is not criminal to sell one of these counterfeits provided it is disclosed that it is not, in fact, a Genuine B3 organ but an organ put together from parts or some other way distinguished.
Watch for folks dodging the question “Is this a Genuine B3? If in doubt, shop elsewhere.

Naming[ edit ] Although the terminal has been officially called “Grand Central Terminal” since the present structure opened, it has “always been more colloquially and affectionately known as Grand Central Station”, a name of one of the earlier railroad stations on the same site. Post Office station at Lexington Avenue, but may also refer to the Grand Central—42nd Street subway station that is located next to the terminal. The name was also used for the renovated Grand Central Depot, from until its demolition in The upper-level tracks are numbered 11 to 42 east to west.
Will also work for M organs except for the extra pedal tone found in these series (M series has 13 pedals, other M organs only 12), and the percussion trigger drawbar on .
Serial Number – A lovely one owner B3 with a matching 21H leslie. The organ has the desirable Organ Mate reverb system. Very good sounding and playing. Slight fade on the rear panel and right side but finish is still very smooth. Great bottom, big midrange, biting percussion. The bench top has eight small holes that have been filled. Use the bench pad or purchase a new remanufactured bench top. They are exact as original. The organ is missing the serial number tag but there is a blank tag included.
The 21H leslie has a 2 speed leslie kit installed. Very nice looking and sounding. High resolution photos on request. I cannot say enough about this A Very nice in every corner.
SHARE Although studying creativity is considered a legitimate scientific discipline nowadays, it is still a very young one. In the early s, a psychologist named J. Guilford was one of the first academic researchers who dared to conduct a study of creativity. He challenged research subjects to connect all nine dots using just four straight lines without lifting their pencils from the page. Today many people are familiar with this puzzle and its solution. In the s, however, very few were even aware of its existence, even though it had been around for almost a century.

I couldn’t help but ask if the people selling the piano were interested in selling the Hammond, the sellers accepted my offer and I now own this Hammond M3. I didn’t even test the organ to see if it worked I just knew if it didn’t I’d be able to fix it. I’ve always wanted a Hammond and this M3 was a popular console model of the 50’s and 60’s, the church we purchased it from supposedly used it for years. My goal was to restore it back to its original beauty and sound, so this blog is dedicated to the work done on this organ once we brought it to “the shop” for the repairs.
My Dad helped with the wood refinishing part of the project, he is an amazing wood worker and craftsman, so as you see throughout credit is given to him with regards to the wood refinishing. I’ll share below pictures and explain what each picture represents in the process of the restoration: This picture was taken when we brought the organ in the shop, as you can see the finish looks really rough, the organ was dirty and in a non-working condition.
I started with removing the upper and lower manuals on the M3 including removal of each key from the manual. This was to provide easy cleaning of the keys and the keybed of each manual. As well as prepare the organ for the wood refinishing. The plastic part of each keytop was cleaned with a rag and a mild degreaser. This removed any dirt and residue from years and years of use and brought the keys back to a clean almost new look and feeling when played.
After each keytop was cleaned it was placed in a box in order for placing back on the manual keybed down the road when we got to that part of the project. Now with all of the keys removed, I carefully removed the Hammond tone generator, and both manuals through the back of the organ.

Every drawbar on every note was sampled individually via the organ’s built-in speaker through a Neumann TLM microphone. The signal was re-amped though a Fender Deluxe Reverb and recorded via a Sennheiser e Both signals were run through Grace M preamps. A Hammond M3 Organ combines the last two harmonics into a single drawbar, this note was omitted. Instead, a “digital foldback” teqchnique was used to extend the harmonics of the Hammond M3 to be similar to that of a Hammond B3. The organ’s range was augmented to be similar to that of a Hammond B3.
This was accomplished by using the Organ’s pedal tones to add the lower octave notes.

This is a note-for-note transcription of Chuck Leavell’s entire 1: Study this classic solo in detail, and learn to play it yourself, precisely as Chuck Leavell does. Moderate To listen, just click: This note-perfect piano transcription shows Leavell’s solo in “Jessica” to be beautifully structured, containing a great section of over-the-bar-line type of phrasing, which leads into ascending and descending octave phrases, then into a section of “hammer-on” fourths, ending with an ascending broken-octave passage in unison with the rest of the band.
There’s lots of fun stuff in this piano solo to learn, and to learn from. This complete transcription also shows exactly how Leavell comps during the Verses, the Bridge, the Out section – every ‘lick’ in perfect detail.
